Doctoral students traveling to conferences and events

Dear all:

As you might know, the Doctor of Arts program has a small budget to be used for developing coursework, activities, as well as supporting the travel of students to events. If you want to travel abroad for a conference you need to follow the steps outlined below.

A. You need to request the funds in writing. This can be done by writing 1-2 A4 pages proposal containing the following information:

1. The name of the event followed by your name and email address.
2. The dates
3. The location,
4. The URL for the event
5. A brief narrative (3-4 sentences) explaining how your attendance will benefit your studies and finally,
6. The budget, or estimate of the expenses to be incurred (e.g. travel, lodging, participation fee, etc). Note that your proposal for travel should be discussed with the Head of Research and your supervisor before the travel is carried out.

B. In general, you must be presenting a paper or exhibiting your work as an artist/designer. If there is a paper, or the documented results of an exhibition, such as for example an entry in an exhibition catalog, you need to forward me copies of these items. If you do not have them yet, please mention them in your A4.

C. Once the event is over and you have returned, you need to submit a report about the activity.

Thanks to everybody in advance for following these procedures.
