The Learning Environments Research Group (short name: LeGroup) is involved in research, design and development of New Media tools, as well as their use and application, in the field of learning.
Sound and Physical Interaction Research Group SOPI deals with digital sound in more aesthetically engaging forms. The group is interested in the research and implementation of sound design together with physical interaction practices on various levels to advance their roles and impact in the future of media and interactive art. Together with practice, applied and academic research, the SOPI research group aims to collaborate with national and international research projects, as well as the industry partners.
The Systems of Representation group conducts research into representation, culture, and knowledge in the digital dimension. The group works on research and design projects, educational activities, and publishes frequently on topics such as cultural heritage, design research, new media, synthetic reality and simulation.
Aalto Visual Communication Design. A research group actively involved in researching the role of visual communication design and broader design thinking in a wide range of applied areas with societal impact, including sustainability, health and well-being. Beyond conducting research on fundamental topics related to visual communication design, visual design thinking, and visual design process, we cover research in areas such as visual narratives and storytelling, information design, and visualization.

General information about using the publishing platform
ACRIS Database:
ACRIS (Aalto Current Research Information System) is a modern, new research information system that comprehensively brings together information about the results of our scientific and artistic activities. The information it contains is used at Aalto to evaluate productivity and also for reporting on our research and other activities to the Ministry of Education and Culture.
The system will aim at supporting researchers and artists in managing their academic merits through publication lists and CV templates. The system is especifically helpful for Open Access -publishing.
How to login to ACRIS? (for doctoral candidates)
First you need to syncronize your personal data to ACRIS. The permission can be given in WebOodi after your study right has begun and you have Aalto user accoount.
- Login to oodi.aalto.fi
- Choose User information
- Click Conditions for giving out student information
- Choose My personal information and click Modify
- Click the box My personal information may be transferred to Aalto research information system
Then proceed to log in to ACRIS at acris.aalto.fi.
