INFO for artists:
The Space: Sushibar+Wine City is located on the 2nd floor of Citycenter (Kaivokatu 8, Helsinki). Please download a drawing of the exhibition wall from the bottom of this text. You may also visit the space to get an idea how the wall is situated.
Hanging System: Works are hung from picture rail. There is a possibility to hang smaller works with tape, provided the wall remains undamaged.
Lighting in the space: There are some regular spotlights available but note that all lighting should be planned so that it does not disturb the restaurant visitors. The exhibition wall faces large windows. The artworks can be also seen from the outside.
Supervising the exhibitions: There is no supervision in the exhibition and the restaurant will not be in any way responsible for the artworks exhibited. The artist will exhibit at their own risk.
Opening hours: The exhibition will be open during the opening hours of the restaurant.
Fees: There are no fees related to this application or the exhibition space.
Sales: The artworks will be for sale. The artist must provide a price list for the works. There is no commission. A list of exhibited works and price list must be included alongside the statement and artist biography (see below: “Other materials”).
Advertising: The restaurant will advertise and communicate to its customers clearly that the artworks are for sale. Social media is used. The artist is advised to use additional advertising.
Hanging and taking down the exhibition: The artist is responsible for hanging and taking down the artworks. The previous exhibition will be taken down at the same time. The artists involved should contact each other and with the representatives at Sushibar+Wine City to make the arrangements for taking down and hanging works.
Opening: The artist may arrange a small opening gathering on the day of the opening at 19:00–20:00 (time and the opening should be confirmed with Sushibar+Wine staff for each exhibition separately) depending on COVID-19 restrictions. Sushibar+Wine provides some sparkling wine for the event. All invitations and advertising of the opening is done by the artist.
Other materials: The artist must provide a short free-form artist statement and biography as well as a list of works and price list on two sheets of A4-sized paper, one for the statement and biography and the other for the list of works and prices. The information sheets must be ready for presentation by opening day. We do request the artist includes a title of the exhibition and the exhibition dates alongside their artist statement and suggest including relevant contact information, such as an email address, website and/or social media. If you have any issues with these materials, please contact the representatives of Sushibar+Wine City or the project coordinators.
Who can apply: We accept applications from students and alumni of Photography programme at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture only. Proof of affiliation is required upon request.
NÄYTTELYINFO taiteilijoille:
Tila: Sushibar+Wine City sijaitsee Citycenterin 2. kerroksessa (Kaivokatu 8, Helsinki). Voit ladata tämän tekstin lopusta piirroksen näyttelyseinästä. Voit myös vierailla ravintolassa tutustuaksesi tilaan.
Ripustustekniikka: Teokset ripustetaan ripustuskiskoon. Pienempiä teoksia on mahdollista ripustaa teipillä, mikäli seinä säilyy ehjänä.
Tilan valaistus: Tilassa on muutama tavallinen spottivalo. Huomaa, että näyttelyn valaisu tulee suunnitella siten, ettei se häiritse ravintolan asiakkaita. Näyttelyseinää vastapäätä on isot ikkunat. Näyttelyseinällä olevat teokset näkyvät ikkunasta myös ravintolatilan ulkopuolelle.
Näyttelyiden valvonta: Näyttelyissä ei järjestetä erikseen valvontaa. Ravintola ei ole vastuussa näyttelyn taideteoksista. Taiteilija pitää näyttelyn omalla vastuullaan.
Näyttelyn aukioloajat: Näyttely on avoinna ravintolan aukioloaikoina.
Maksut: Tähän hakuun tai näyttelytilaan ei liity maksuja taiteilijalle.
Teosmyynnit: Näyttelyn teokset ovat myynnissä. Taiteilijan tulee toimittaa teoksistaan hintalista. Ravintola ei osallistu teosmyyntiin eikä velota myyntipalkkiota. Hinta-/teoslista tulee statementin ja bion yhteyteen (ks. alla “muut materiaalit”).
Mainonta: Ravintola mainostaa näyttelyä ja ilmoittaa asiakkailleen selkeästi, että kyseessä on myyntinäyttely. Sosiaalista mediaa käytetään hyödyksi mainonnassa. Taiteilijan suositellaan mainostaa omaa näyttelyään tämän lisäksi.
Näyttelyn pystytys ja purku: Taiteilija on vastuussa näyttelyn pystytyksestä ja purkamisesta. Samaan aikaan edeltävä näyttely puretaan. Taiteilijat, joiden näyttely puretaan/pystytetään samanaikaisesti, sopivat keskenään ripustus-/purkuaamun järjestelyistä.
Avajaiset: Taiteilija voi järjestää avajaistilaisuuden näyttelyssä avajaispäivänä klo 19:00–20:00 (aika ja avajaiset vahvistettava jokaista näyttelyä varten erikseen Sushibar+Winen henkilökunnan kanssa), riippuen COVID-19 rajoituksista. Sushibar+Wine tarjoaa avajaisjuomaa. Mahdolliset kutsut ja avajaismainonta on taiteilijan vastuulla.
Muut materiaalit: Taiteilijan on toimitettava lyhyt, vapaamuotoinen artist statement ja bio näyttelyä varten sekä teosluettelo ja hintalista kahdella A4-kokoisella paperiarkilla, joista toinen on artist statement ja bioa varten ja toinen teos-ja hintalistaa varten. Tietolehtisten on oltava valmiina näyttelyn avajaispäivään mennessä. Pyydämme taiteilijan lisäävän näyttelyn nimen ja päivämäärät sekä ehdottamme että taiteilija liittäisi mukaan yhteystiedot, kuten sähköpostiosoitteen, verkkosivut ja/tai sosiaalinen media. Jos sinulla on kysyttävää näistä materiaaleista, olethan ystävällisesti yhteydessä Sushibar+Wine City:n edustajiin tai tämän projektin koordinaattoreihin.
Kuka voi hakea: Tähän hakuun voivat ottaa osaa ainoastaan Aalto-yliopiston Taiteiden ja suunnittelun korkeakoulun Valokuvataiteen yksikön opiskelijat ja alumnit. Affiliaatio on pystyttävä todistamaan.
