Teachers’ Dialogue 9.5.2025 13-14: AI in teaching
Teachers’ Dialogue is a forum that brings together Aalto University’s teachers to discuss teaching and collaboratively develop Aalto’s teaching and learning services. It is a relaxed, sociable, and inclusive event where ideas and services come to life. We invite you to join, listen, dream, and actively contribute to the development of LES Teacher Services.
This year’s first Teachers’ Dialogue (May 9 at 1PM) invites teaching staff from across Aalto University to join the conversation on AI in teaching and learning. Whether you are a newcomer to the world of AI or an experienced explorer of new technologies, you are welcome to participate. We will delve into the pedagogical possibilities and challenges associated with AI. You are also most welcome to share your experiences and insights, and ask questions.
You’ll have the opportunity to hear:
- Jukka Sihvonen (BIZ, Assistant professor) share insights from his course Big Data Analysis in Accounting. He has demonstrated the use of AI at the end of each lecture (related to the lecture’s topic), created learning support materials (such as study guides and podcasts) using AI, and involved students in utilizing AI to generate business ideas.
- Timo Ovaska (Teacher Services, Project manager) and Kristian Hentula (IT, Digital Workplace & AI Adoption Lead) introduce an AI course tailored for Aalto’s teachers and give glimpses of the future of Aalto AI Assistant. Your feedback will support the further development of the course.
- Luis Costa (LES, Turnitin’s admin in Aalto) discuss plagiarism in artificial intelligence and explore whether AI-generated texts can or should be identified using Turnitin.
