Nordic Startup Summer Program is organized by Aalto Ventures Program from July 15-19 in 2019.
30 Chinese students from 5 top universities in China participated, including Xidian University, Fudan University, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Shantou University and South China University of Technology. The main purpose of this program is to explore Aalto University’s innovation and student-led startup ecosystem, top Finnish innovation companies, Nordic culture, mindset of public speaking and design thinking.

Visiting Aalto Startup Sauna, a co-working space for startups.
Startup Sauna is located in Otaniemi campus, which is the home of four prominent student-led organizations – Aaltoes, Junction, Startuplifers and Kiuas. They aim to help early-stage startups thrive and form a vigorous and creative entrepreneurial community. Every year, there’re more than 100 events hosted here.
Oskari Tempakka, CEO of Wave Ventures, introduced the first student-run VC fund in the Nordics.
Riku Suonsivu presented Aaltoes, Aalto Entreprenship Society. “Aaltoes is Europe’s largest and most active entrepreneurship community.”
Niklas Hellström introduced Kiuas, the top startup accelerator in Finland, which provides free and zero-equity programs and activities for early-stage startups.
Patrik Holopainen presented Junction, a global hackthon and tech community.
In addition to startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship education in Finland, the summer program also provided a great opportunity for the participants to develop their own personal journeys.
Walid O. El Cheikh, author of Pitching for Life, inspired students to improve their pitching skills and how to do a powerful 8-sec pitch about themselves.
