INFO for artists:
The space: Sushibar+Wine City is located on the 2nd floor of Citycenter (Kaivokatu 8, Helsinki). Please, download a drawing of the exhibition wall from the bottom of this text. You may also visit the space to get an idea how the wall is situated.
Hanging system: Picture rail. Tape. When using tape, please test beforehand carefully that the tape holds up your works and can be easily removed from the wall without leaving marks or tearing the paint.
Lighting in the space: There are some regular spot lights available but note that all lighting should be planned so that it does not disturb the restaurant visitors. The exhibition wall faces large windows. The artworks can be also seen from the outside. Please note that you cannot move the spot lights but you can turn them to light up your works better.
Supervising the exhibitions: There is no supervision in the exhibition and the restaurant will not be in any way responsible for the artworks exhibited. The artist will exhibit on their own risk.
Opening hours: The exhibition will be open during the opening hours of the restaurant.
Fees: There are no fees related to the application or the exhibition space.
Sales: The artworks will be for sale. The artist must provide a price list for the works. There is no commission. The price list and a list of works will be put on the statement / biography template (see below: “Other materials”).
Advertising: The restaurant will advertise the exhibition and communicate its customers that the artworks are for sale. Social media is used. It is suggested that the artist would contact the person responsible for the restaurant’s communications and let them know when the artist will be hanging up the artworks. This way the restaurant can come and take photos of the artist and ask more about the works exhibited. The contact info for this can be found in the email sent to you when your plan is accepted. The artist may use additional advertising of their own choosing. Possible Facebook events are managed by the artist.
Hanging and taking down the exhibition: The artist is responsible for hanging and taking down the artworks. The hanging will be done in the morning of the exhibition opening day (usually Tuesday) before the restaurant opens. This will also be the time when the previous exhibition is taken down. The artists involved should contact each other to make the arrangements for taking down / hanging the works. Please make sure that your works are not placed too low: the customers might bump into them when they sit and lean back.
Opening: The artist may arrange a small opening gathering on the day of the opening at 19:00–20:00 (time and the opening should be always confirmed with Sushibar+Wine staff for each exhibition separately so that they will reserve a table for this purpose). Sushibar+Wine provides some sparkling wine for the event. All invitations and advertising of the opening is done by the artist.
Other materials: The artist must provide a short artist statement and bio with a photograph for the exhibition. This is done on a template that can be found attached in the acceptance email that was sent to you. The artist should print out the template paper filled with their info by the time of the opening of their exhibitions. If you have any issues with the template, please contact the representatives of Sushibar+Wine or this project.
Who can apply: We accept exhibition applications from students and alumni of Photography unit at Aalto University School of Arts, Design and Architecture only. Proof of affiliation is required upon request.

Tila: Sushibar+Wine City sijaitsee Citycenterin 2. kerroksessa (Kaivokatu 8, Helsinki). Voit ladata tämän tekstin lopusta piirroksen näyttelyseinästä. Voit myös vierailla ravintolassa tutustuaksesi tilaan.
Ripustustekniikka: Ripustuskisko. Teippi. Jos ripustuksesi on teipillä, on syytä testata teipin pitävyys varovasti ja varmistaa, että teippi lähtee irti seinästä jättämättä jälkiä / vahingoittamatta maalipintaa. Voit keskustella näistä ripustusvaihtoehdoista lisää ravintolapäällikön kanssa.
Tilan valaistus: Tilassa on muutama tavallinen spottivalo. Huomaa, että näyttelyn valaisu tulee suunnitella siten, ettei se häiritse ravintolan asiakkaita. Näyttelyseinää vastapäätä on isot ikkunat. Näyttelyseinällä olevat teokset näkyvät ikkunasta myös ravintolatilan ulkopuolelle. Huomaathan, että spottivalojen paikkaa ei voi siirtää. Voit kuitenkin kääntää valoja ja kohdistaa ne paremmin töillesi.
Näyttelyiden valvonta: Näyttelyissä ei järjestetä erikseen valvontaa. Ravintola ei ole vastuussa näyttelyn taideteoksista. Taiteilija pitää näyttelyn omalla vastuullaan.
Näyttelyn aukioloajat: Näyttely on avoinna ravintolan aukioloaikoina.
Maksut: Tähän hakuun tai näyttelytilaan ei liity maksuja taiteilijalle.
Teosmyynnit: Näyttelyn teokset ovat myynnissä. Taiteilijan tulee toimittaa teoksistaan hintalista. Ravintola ei osallistu teosmyyntiin eikä velota myyntipalkkiota. Hinta-/teoslista tulee statementin ja bion yhteyteen (ks. alla “muut materiaalit”).
Mainonta: Ravintola mainostaa näyttelyä ja ilmoittaa asiakkailleen, että kyseessä on myyntinäyttely. Sosiaalista mediaa käytetään hyödyksi mainonnassa. Taiteilijaa kehotetaan ilmoittamaan ravintolan viestinnän edustajalle, mihin aikaan taiteilija on näyttelyään ripustamassa, jotta tilanteesta voidaan tulla ottamaan kuvia. Yhteystiedot löytyvät näyttelyvalintaviestistä. Taiteilijan on lisäksi suotavaa mainostaa omaa näyttelyään esimerkiksi Facebook-eventin muodossa ja kutsua vierailijoita avajaisiinsa.
Näyttelyn pystytys ja purku: Taiteilija on vastuussa näyttelyn pystytyksestä ja purkamisesta. Näyttely pystytetään ensimmäisen näyttelypäivän (yl. torstai) aamuna ennen ravintolan aukeamisaikaa. Samaan aikaan edeltävä näyttely puretaan. Taiteilijat, joiden näyttely puretaan/pystytetään samanaikaisesti, sopivat keskenään ripustus-/purkuaamun järjestelyistä. Varo asettamasta teoksiasi liian alas, sillä niiden edessä istuvat asiakkaat saattavat törmätä teoksiin nojatessaan.
Avajaiset: Taiteilija voi järjestää avajaistilaisuuden näyttelyssä ripustuspäivänä klo 19:00–20:00 (aika ja avajaiset vahvistettava jokaista näyttelyä varten erikseen Sushibar+Winen henkilökunnan kanssa, jotta he osaavat varautua avajaisiin varaamalla pöydän ravintolasta). Sushibar+Wine tarjoaa avajaisjuomaa. Mahdolliset kutsut ja avajaismainonta on taiteilijan vastuulla.
Muut materiaalit: Taiteilijan on toimitettava lyhyt artist statement ja bio valokuvalla näyttelyä varten. Nämä laitetaan valmiiseen templateen, joka on lähetetty taiteilijalle näyttelynvalintaviestin yhteydessä. Taitelijan on toimitettava tiedoillaan täytetty ja tulostettu template näyttelyyn sen avajaispäivänä. Kuka voi hakea: Sushibar+Wine Cityn näytteilleasettajiksi valitaan ainoastaan Aalto-yliopiston Taiteiden ja suunnittelun korkeakoulun Valokuvataiteen yksikön opiskelijoita ja alumneja. Affiliaatio on pystyttävä todistamaan.
