FMM 2022 Venue

We are happy to welcome you to Aalto University Töölö, Runeberginkatu 14-16 close to Helsinki city centre. This newly renovated functionalist style building from 1950 today offers beautiful and modern facilities with an unique atmosphere created by carefully selected pieces of modern art.

Until 2019, the building was used by the School of Business. Today the main resident of Aalto Töölö is Aalto University Executive Education Ltd.

The building is one of the most significant representatives of post-war reconstruction period architecture in Finland and is included in the register of DoCoMoMo, an organization specializing in the protection and documentation of modern international architecture.

Accommodation

A quota of rooms for FMM2022 partcipants has been booked at Hotel Aleksanteri on June 11-16. Early booking is recommended as Helsinki is a popular conference and tourist destination in June! The allotment will be released on April 30, 2022.
The hotel is  approx. 1,2 km from the venue at Aalto University Töölö.
The Sunday June 12 workshop will be organized in the LOFT spaces of the hotel.

The home-like boutique hotel is close to nearby design shops, galleries and parks as wekk as public transportation (less than 100 meters from the closest tram stop and only minutes from the city center and Helsinki’s top attractions). Helsinki-Vantaa International Airport can easily be reached by public transport (approx 50-60 min) or by taxi approx 30 minutes.

Covid testing:

In case you need a covid test while in Finland, it is possible to book a test through the FINENTRY system (https://www.finentry.fi/en/koronatestaus/). In addition, there are several private service providers near the conference venue that provide a PCR test. E.g.,

Helsinki Airport
The nearest airport to the conference venue is Helsinki Airport (HEL), which is 19 kilometers from central Helsinki. A taxi from the airport to the conference venue costs approximately €60. Finland has Uber and the price from the airport to the venue ranges from €35 to €60. Note that the number of available cars is limited. Alternatively, you can take the train to Helsinki railway station (the journey takes about 30 minutes).
