Longhurst, B. (2007) Cultural change and ordinary life, McGraw-Hill, Bershire, Chapters 3 and 4

I read these chapters to find information on how media has changed our behaviour. It was not one of my favorites to read since it did not have too many concrete examples, but rather high-level concepts. It did mention that media has both increased survaillance of people but also the need to perform. Before it was audience watching a performer, but now it is also the audience performing. For example, in hockey games you can see “funny” spectators wearing funny hats without their shirts on. In more new media this can be seen as funny status updates etc. in social sites.
