I read this paper because Refaiy and Labib 2009 mentioned that this paper is the only paper that addresses the relationship between knowledge and maintenance workforce (skilled craftsmen and technicians who are responsible for maintaining production equipment). However, it turns out that the main point of the paper is that maintenance workforce should be included to design to make more maintainable products, which to me does not seem to be revealing results. Still, paper makes a good effort on stressing the importance of the knowledge of equipment the maintenance people work with. The technicians hold knowledge about the equipment on site, and its use.
