We welcome all Nordlog, Educators\u2019 Day and NOFOMA participants to the pre-conference Get-together & Networking event on Wednesday June 14<\/strong>.

16:30 Joint walk from Venue lobby in Otaniemi Maarintie 8,to Waterbus pier by Otaranta (adjacent to Hotel Radisson Espoo)
17:00 Waterbus departure to Merisatama, Helsinki > drop off and 1 km seaside walk to L\u00f6yly
18:30-21:00 Sauna, food & mingle at L\u00f6yly together with NOFOMA conference participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After Nordlog and Educators’ Day on Wednesday, we walk from the venue to the pier of Otaranta, where a private waterbus is waiting for us to tour the archipelago of Espoo and seaside Helsinki, then move to the iconic L\u00f6yly. During the informal evening, you will get to enjoy refreshments and the famous L\u00f6yly salmon soup. Finnish actor and fisherman Jasper P\u00e4\u00e4kk\u00f6nen is behind the secret recipe of the soup, and he is also one of the founders of L\u00f6yly.
The entire sauna department and it’s adjacent terrace are reserved for NOFOMA 18:30-21:00. Why not try the gentle steam of the smoke sauna and take a refreshing swim in the sea! We warmly recommend it, and remind you to bring your swimsuit as the saunas are mixed.
You can naturally join the party without going to sauna, the terrace towards the sea will be our outdoor venue.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If you arrive on Wednesday afternoon or evening, you can join the group at Aalto campus at 16:30 (NOFOMA venue, Maarintie 8)<\/strong> OR
come directly at 17:00 departure to the waterbus pier <\/strong>adjacent to the campus and Hotel Radisson Espoo (opposite sports field – see picture at the bottom of this page)
OR
meet up at 18:30 at the L\u00f6yly restaurant<\/strong> in Helsinki, Hernesaarenranta 4.
If you arrive by public transport, tram nr 6 is the most convenient from the city centre.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Please note, that there is no storage space for suitcases<\/strong> in the restaurant!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

L\u00f6yly <\/a>is one of the most popular things to see and do in Helsinki and the perfect setting for NordLOG & Educators’ Day participants to relax and wrap up their first day at the symposia or get ready for NOFOMA. In 2018, L\u00f6yly was among Time Magazine\u2019s 100 Best Places in the World<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Sauna is an essential part of Finnish culture and the national identity. There are only 5.4 million Finns, but the country has 3.3 million saunas. L\u00f6yly is without a doubt one of the most popular public saunas in Helsinki \u2013 now you have the opportunity find out why.<\/p><\/blockquote><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Thursday 15 June at 17:30 -22:30 – Exhibition & Dinner at Heureka Science Centre<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The conference dinner on Thursday 15 June will take Nofoma participants by private bus to the Heureka Science Centre<\/a> <\/strong>in Vantaa.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Bus departures 17:25 & 17:30<\/strong> from Maarintie 8 to Heureka (approx 30 min drive). The first bus will make stop at Hotell Radisson Blu Espoo and departs from there at 17:35.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Upon arrival to Heureka, you will have the great opportunity to visit the unique and topical exhibition Facing Disaster<\/strong><\/a>.<\/strong> The exhibition lets visitors practise their crisis tolerance \u2013 resilience \u2013 in gamified exhibits and experience the forces of nature as audiovisual art installations. Our visit continues with an informal buffet dinner<\/strong> at the Heureka restaurant.
Bus transport back to Aalto Campus \/ Helsinki city centre<\/strong>\/Kamppi at 22:00 (approx 25 min drive).
