Of brain diseases and babies in smart jumpsuits

In this week’s lecture, Iiro talked about heartbreaking diseases such as Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s.

The role of vitamins (and the harm of the lack of them) was also covered, as well as different pathways in the brain and hormones as neuromodulators (for example the “love hormone” oxytocin).

In the exercise class, we had an excursion to BABA center, where researchers have dedicated their time to investigate babies – really about everything about them!

The most interesting in the excursion was probably the smart suit that helps investigate a baby’s nervous system via their movements (for example babies with cerebral palsy). All of the research done in the lab sounded extremely important and fascinating!
