Of smells and sights

This week’s lecture talked about sensory systems such as taste (fancy name gustation), smell (fancy name olfaction), and vision (no fancy name).

We learned how the brain codes all the inputs from different sensors, how different tastes form, and talked a lot about the human visual system – how do the light photons enter the eye, how do photoreceptors register them, and how does the brain connect the picture.

These chapters were probably the easiest to understand for me so far since the sensory systems have been covered also in my previous studies, but of course not in such detail as now.

Next week we have an offline exercise class coming up – I’m really looking forward to it!
