Welcome to meet up with old and new colleagues and register for the NCDE2022!
\nMake the most of your visit and join this informal pre-conference get-together at the premises of UNU-WIDER. Together you can enjoy a light buffet, snacks, and refreshments.<\/p>\n

How to get there:
\n<\/strong>Our conference chair and assistants will walk with you to the reception – welcome to join!\u00a0 Meeting point and start is from the Hotel Presidentti, Etel\u00e4inen Rautatiekatu 4<\/strong> at 17:15.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Distances aren’t very long in Helsinki,\u00a0 so take the opportunity to walk through the heart of the city towards the South Harbor and Katajanokka. Once you see the water, you will pass the vivid market place (Kauppatori in Finnish), the Uspenski Cathedral and Allas Sea Pool. When you have passed the Helsinki Skywheel you are very close!<\/p>\n

Tram number 4 i<\/strong>s a great option, if you chose to arrive by public transport. You can buy the ticket on the HSL vendor machine or the HSL app – highly recommended. Chose the zone AB, your ticket costs 2,8 \u20ac and is valid 80-110 minutes.<\/p>\n

Wednesday June 15<\/strong>
\nSeaside Dinner at Uunisaari – Ugnsholmen<\/a><\/h2>\n

After the first conference day we will unplug from the buzz of the city and enjoy an relaxed conference dinner at the charming island Uunisaari – Ugnsholmen. The 5 minute shuttle boat ride departs from the beautiful shoreline of Kaivopuisto, approx. 30 min walk from the venue or hotels.Our conference assistants will guide you from the conference venue starting the walk at 17:45 or 18:15.<\/p>\n

Alternatively you can hop on our private bus<\/strong> that takes you to the starting point of the shuttle boat.<\/p>\n

  • 17:45 – guided walk starting from Economicum towards the shuttle boat departing point (30 min walk)<\/li>\n
  • 18:15 guided walk starting from Hotel Albert towards the shuttle boat departing point\u00a0 (20 min walk)<\/li>\n
  • Bus transport (Bus company: \u00c5bergin Linja<\/strong>)
    \n18:00 Pick up in front of Economicum conference venue (Arkadiankatu 7), 200 metres from Hotel Presidentti
    \n18:10 Pick up at Hotel Albert, Albertinkatu 30<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    The departure point of the boat is a pier by the boardwalk of Merisatamanranta<\/strong> approx. 250 m west of Kompassitori<\/strong> – see map below.<\/p>\n

    AGENDA<\/p>\n

    Between 18:00 and19:00 Shuttle boat transport (5 minutes) to the Uunisaari island. Please mention AALTO UNIVERSITY when you get on the boat, your boat ticket is included in the dinner. If you arrive early, you can explore the paths and beautiful rocks of the small island.<\/p>\n

    19:00 Welcome drink on the terrace (or inside in case of cool weather) of VERNISSA (redbrick building)
    \n19:30 Dinner
    \nApprox. 22:00-22:30 Shuttle boat departures back to mainland<\/p>\n

    As we are close to midsummer it will not get dark before departure back to the mainland. Comfortable shoes are recommended, a sweater\/jacket\u00a0 maybe needed as Finnish summer evenings can be cool!<\/p>\n
