Due to COVID-19, it has not been possible to organize traditional fashion shows, which usually gather hundreds of fashion insiders under the same roof. 2020 has been a turning point in creative fields, and as Cormier (2020) states, the role of objects changes during crises, when the poverty and richness of objects are revealed. The pandemic has accelerated progress in the fashion industry and has forced creatives to find new ways of presenting collections. Instead of a catwalk show for the fall 2021collection, Balenciaga launched a virtual game which can be played freely through the internet. It strongly resembles PC games from the 90s and uses a game engine by Epic Games. Models have been digitally scanned and transformed into avatars. Players move through different zones and are able to examine collection looks on their way.
