Windowless house update, y’all!
Yesterday we reported on a house in Suomenlinna with painted on windows. Now, it turns out it wasn’t just architechtural craziness; there actually used to be a window tax based on the number of windows in your house. Who knew?
The idea was to build a house with “placeholder” windows, which could then be glazed at a later day if/when the tax would cease to exist.
See? It’s just not fun here at the Aalto blog, you actually learn something. Or at least I do.
I believe there’s even a word for this in the Finnish language: Huippuyliopisto.
