Embodiment, first text, 31st Jan 2012
This is the first text in seminar EMBODIMENT, Tuesday 31st 2012.
The text is the introduction to a book by Drew Leder, “The Absent Body” (Chicago U Press, 1990; the writer worked in Loyola College in Maryland which explains the last chapter).
It shows quite clearly some possible approaches into the questions of body, embodiment and incarnation (though you may find the references to the chapters to come somewhat odd when you have no access to them, yet). Let’s take his ideas at their face value and discuss on them as if they were written for our purpose only.
