Call for Papers & Call for Innovations are open from 3 April−31 May 2017.
Alvar Aalto Academy is inviting researchers, architects, designers, educators, practitioners, students and entrepreneurs to investigate the theme of Technology and Humanism.

The seminar, which will consist of expert lectures, workshops and discussion sessions, is seeking proposals from different fields that relate to the theme of Technology and Humanism. Alvar Aalto Academy welcomes Call for Papers and Call for Innovations proposals from a variety of disciplines and perspectives, including architecture, arts, urban design and planning, industrial design, engineering, information technology, media and communication studies, social sciences and humanities.

In this seminar, we are looking for contributions that acknowledge the relationship between evolving technology and changing premises for human wellbeing within the context of the built environment. The theme can be approached from the perspective of user-driven processes, building technologies including new materials and processes, energy and resource efficiency and production, healthcare and welfare solutions and the impact of ICT on living and working.

The event is part of Alvar Aalto Week which will be coordinated by Alvar Aalto Academy and held in Seinäjoki, Finland on 13−17 September 2017. Public events that will be organised in the city during this week will offer an interesting, interactive programme for local residents and students and professionals in the field. The events will focus on Alvar Aalto’s oeuvre and design ideology, along with topical issues related to the built environment. Alvar Aalto Week is arranged by the Alvar Aalto Academy / Alvar Aalto Foundation in collaboration with the City of Seinäjoki and a wide group of partners.
